Day 2 - Beijing

On Monday morning Nov. 23rd we visited the office of the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs for a Welcome Ceremony. There they made several speeches, had some chinese dancers and then gave each girl a stuffed Panda bear. The Chinese goverment actually sponsored our trip because they want the girls to come back and be proud of their roots. There were photographers and video camera's from CCTV which is the China News station. The news reporters followed us around the rest of the day and then we actually made the national news that night. Brighton and Briley were sitting next to the minister of Civil Affairs.

Next we visited the Great Wall of China which is simple amazing. We hiked it for about an hour and half and was completely worn out. Some sections are very steep since it follows a ridge line.

After the Great Wall we had another Chinese lunch (containing many dishes we've never experienced before). Our girls who love Chinese food realized that they really only love American Chinese food.
After lunch we went to the Summer Palace. The many structures there surround a lake including the long corridor.
